Keyboard shortcuts

Every keyboard shortcut in Penna, for Mac and for Windows and Linux.

Keys are shown Mac first. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl wherever a Mac shortcut uses ⌘, and Alt for ⌥. Buttons that have a shortcut show it in their tooltip. Letter shortcuts follow the key's position, so they work with any keyboard layout.

Anywhere in the editor

These work while the app has focus, including while you type in a field, except where the table says otherwise.

ActionMacWindows and Linux

Undo, when you aren't typing in a field⌘ ZCtrl Z
Redo, when you aren't typing in a field⇧ ⌘ ZShift Ctrl Z
Close a panel that's open over your workEscEsc

⌘ S (Ctrl S) saves nothing, because every change saves on its own. It shows a reminder of that instead.

On a phone, the assistant shortcuts and undo and redo don't apply, because the app is view-only there.

While the assistant waits for you to apply a change, only the zoom keys work on the canvas. While Flowmark has a mistake, the canvas shows the last version that worked: you can select, copy and comment, but not edit.

On a sequence diagram's canvas

The general canvas keys above work the same: undo and redo, zoom, select all, ask, comment, rename, delete and the menu. These are different on a sequence diagram:

ActionMacWindows and Linux

This applies to renaming on the canvas and to the diagram's name at the top left.

In the Flowmark pane

The Flowmark pane is a text editor with the usual editing keys. Undo and redo there work on your typing, and these are worth knowing:

ActionMacWindows and Linux
Search the text⌘ FCtrl F
Undo typing⌘ ZCtrl Z
Redo typing⇧ ⌘ ZCtrl Y

Between panels

The gap between two panels can be moved from the keyboard too. Tab to it, then:

ActionMacWindows and Linux
Resize a little← →, or ↑ ↓ above the Problems panel← →, or ↑ ↓ above the Problems panel
Resize more⇧ and an arrow keyShift and an arrow key

Close the panel↵Enter

Double-clicking a gap puts the panel back to its usual size.

People viewing a shared diagram can use ⌘ 0 (Ctrl 0) to fit it to the screen, + and - to zoom, and the same mouse and trackpad gestures to pan and zoom.

In option switches

In a row of options such as Theme or Provider in Settings, or the View switch above the diagram, ← and → move between the options.
