Employee onboarding

HR, IT and the hiring manager prepare for a new hire in parallel, with an escalation when equipment is late.

Once a candidate accepts the offer, HR creates their record. Then three things happen at once: IT sets up the laptop and accounts, the hiring manager plans the first week, and HR sends a welcome pack. When all three are done, the manager welcomes the new hire and holds a check-in after 30 days.

This is the Employee onboarding template. To open it in the app, select Templates in the rail, then Employee onboarding.

What to notice

  • Parallel split and join. and #prepare starts three branches, and and #ready waits for all of them. See Parallel work.
  • The join is declared where it's used. and #ready sits in the Hiring manager lane, just before the steps that follow it, and every branch points to it.
  • An escalation inside a branch. If IT takes more than three days, the interrupting timer leads to Escalate to IT lead. Both IT paths meet at xor #it_done before the branch joins the others, so the parallel join still gets one arrival from IT.
  • A message start. start:message Offer accepted shows the process begins when a message arrives.
