BPMN skill for Claude

A small Claude skill that will teach Claude the Penna workflow, so it looks up the guidance before it draws.

Coming soon

The BPMN skill isn't available yet. This page describes what it will do. Until it's ready, the connector already gives Claude everything on this page through its tools.

What the skill will be

A skill is a short set of instructions you add to Claude, which it reads when a task calls for it. The BPMN skill will be a thin one. It will hold two things:

  • The workflow for modeling with Penna: pick or create the diagram, draft the happy path first, change existing diagrams with small edits so ids stay stable, fix what the modeling checks report, and finish with a short summary.
  • One rule: call lookup_guidance before you draw. That's how Claude gets the Flowmark syntax, the modeling style and the domain notes.

The skill won't carry its own copy of the guidance. The guidance lives in one place, the app, and the skill points Claude to it. That way the two can't drift apart when the guidance changes.

What it will add to the connector

The connector already sends Claude a short set of instructions when it connects. Some Claude apps shorten those instructions or ignore them, so Claude doesn't always see the workflow. A skill is something Claude reads in full when the task needs it, so the workflow reaches Claude the same way in every app. It also makes Claude more likely to look up the guidance for a domain before it drafts, instead of drawing from memory.

What to use until then

Connect Claude as described in Connect your AI app. The connector's tools carry what Claude needs without the skill: the tool that writes a diagram includes a summary of Flowmark, and lookup_guidance serves the full syntax, the style notes and the domain references. See the guidance topics for what Claude can look up.

If you'd like Claude to use the guidance every time, ask it to: for example, "look up the guidance for this domain before you draft".
