Share and export

Share a view-only link, or download your diagram in standard formats.

A view-only link lets someone see your diagram without an account or signing in.

  1. Open the diagram and select Share at the top right of the diagram.
  2. Select Create link.
  3. Select Copy link and send it however you like.

Once a diagram has a link, the button says Shared, and opening it shows the link again. In a narrow window, Share and Export show only their icons. Sharing isn't available on a phone.

The Share popover for a diagram with a view-only link, showing the link, a copy button and Turn off link.
  • See your latest saved version. When they come back to the tab, it checks for a newer one.
  • Pan and zoom around the diagram.
  • Download it as a BPMN 2.0 file (.bpmn) or an image (.svg).

They can't edit the diagram, see its version history, read your assistant conversation, or see any of your other diagrams. The page is kept out of search engines.

A diagram has at most one link at a time, and anyone who has it can open it. Share it only with people you're happy to show the diagram to.

  1. Select Shared at the top right of the diagram.
  2. Select Turn off link, then Turn off to confirm, or Keep to leave it on.

The link stops working at once. Anyone who opens it sees a page saying the link doesn't work.

After turning a link off, select Share and Create link again. You get a different link; the old one stays off. This is how you take access away from the people who had the old link while still sharing with others.

A link also stops working if you delete the diagram, or while your admin has removed your account.

Export a diagram

Open Export at the top right of the diagram and pick a format. Pictures are under Image, text files under Code:

Menu itemWhat you get
SVGAn .svg picture of the diagram, for documents and slides.
PNGA .png picture of the diagram.
Copy as imageThe picture, copied to your clipboard.
FlowmarkA .flowmark text file with the process in Flowmark.
BPMN 2.0 fileA .bpmn file in the standard BPMN 2.0 format, which other BPMN tools can open.
Copy FlowmarkThe Flowmark text, copied to your clipboard.

Files are named after the diagram. ⇧ ⌘ E (Shift Ctrl E on Windows and Linux) downloads the .bpmn file without opening the menu.

See or copy the XML

View BPMN XML… at the bottom of the Export menu opens the XML that the .bpmn file contains, over the editor. It's read-only. Copy XML copies all of it, and the download button next to it saves the .bpmn file. Press Esc to close it. To change the diagram, edit it on the canvas, in Flowmark or with the assistant.
